Auger
Syrah
Owned by Rich Auger and Mary Radu since 1989, Auger is a small vineyard located two miles south of Saint Helena in the Napa Valley. In 1990, Frank “Laurie” Wood, one of the region’s leading viticulturists, planted it to Cabernet Sauvignon. It was budded over to Syrah in 1997, reflecting Auger’s growing interest in Rhone varietals.
The rootstock is St. George and the Syrah clone is 01. The vineyard is farmed without the use of herbicides or pesticides (other than sulfur). Spacing is in 10-foot rows, with six feet between vines.
