Around the Vineyards

Meet the stars of the 2025 vintage! Fruit set is well underway in the vineyards as we get a glimpse of the grapes that will make some of your favorite wines. Right now, the vines are putting maximum energy into forming the clusters and increasing the size of the berries. It’s an important step in the process and, luckily, a period of relative safety for the delicate young grapes. All of the grapes are as green as can be, even the red varietals. All of that will change in about a month with the onset of version and the ripening phase of the growing season. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. For now, we’ll enjoy the warm days and cool nights and save our energy for the coming months.

Meanwhile, the summer garden is coming in nicely. The sunflowers are already blooming, and the bees from our apiaries are keeping happy and busy! Chef and the culinary team have been harvesting onions and garlic, and if you have visited the winery recently, you have probably noticed the garlic curing on the back garden fence. This process is known as curing and is essential for long-term storage. The batch pictured below is almost done. As soon as the stems are brittle and the outer wrapping is papery, it will be time to trim them and bring them into the kitchen to use in dishes for the rest of the year!

Summer Bottling

The bottling truck is back on the crush pad all week for our summer bottling. We’re bottling the 2023 vintage of many of our most popular red wines, including blends, single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, and Bordeaux varietals from across the valley. As you may have heard, the 2023 vintage was one for the ages, and we can’t wait for you to try some of these incredible wines. Stay tuned for more info about release dates!

Praise For 2022 Cabernet Sauvignons

As we wrap up our work on the 2023 vintage, we would be remiss not to revisit the 2022 vintage – specifically the incredible scores we received from Decanter Magazine and Jonathan Cristaldi. Ten wines in total scored at least 94 points, and six of those received 96 points or above. As Jonathan explained, those “looking for easygoing, approachable reds will find plenty to love in the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon releases from Napa Valley. The 2022 Napa Cabs are predominantly fruit-forward, with red-toned fruit, sweet spices, sandalwood, supple tannins, and slightly elevated alcohol. However, a small subset – mainly from cooler valley-floor sites and mountain appellations – lean toward black-toned fruit, savoury spices, balanced alcohol and more robust tannins.”

2023 Syn3rgy

One of the wines being bottled this week is 2023 Syn3rgy, a perennial favorite. We released it for pre-order earlier in June and it will be ready to ship on July 28. This vintage is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirah.

Crafted with the same care and intention as our most celebrated wines, Syn3rgy delivers serious flavor with a casual spirit. Juicy, vibrant, and undeniably drinkable, it’s the perfect red to serve slightly chilled and poured generously.

Whether it’s burgers on the grill, ribs over open flame, or a backyard gathering with friends, 2023 Syn3rgy is the wine you’ll reach for all summer long. Bold enough to stand up to barbecue, smooth enough to enjoy on its own, this fruit-forward blend is designed for easy moments and effortless enjoyment.
