Chill the Wine & Cozy Up With Comfort Food
All too often, white wines get left behind with the long summer evenings and warm temperatures when winter settles in. At B Cellars, we have found that a chilled bottle of crisp white wine can make a perfect companion to some of your favorite comfort foods. The fresh, zippy acidity can balance out the rich flavors found in many “winter” dishes. Not to mention that crab season is upon us right now. What’s better than fresh seafood with a beautifully crafted white wine. If nothing else, you’ll be dreaming of springtime! Here are two of our favorites with recipes from Chef Derick Kuntz.
2019 Blend 23
We’ve made Blend 23 over the last 14 years. Each year, the goal has been to create and intriguing white blend that pairs with a glass as well as food. Our 2019 blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier don’t disappoint. Our 2019 Blend 23 exhibits lavish aromatics of lemongrass, grapefruit and apricots. Subtle expressions of wet limestone, white peach and jasmine. The palate is fresh and crisp laden with flavors of key lime, green apple and savory minerality.
2019 Jewell Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
The Jewell Vineyard in Sonoma County offers our Sauvignon Blanc an idyllic setting. Long coolish days – breezes from the Pacific allow the grapes to ripen slow and steady. Grapefruit dominates the nose with peaches following closely. There are elements of hazelnut and light minerality if you can spare the time and truly take in the scents of the wine. Zesty mouthfeel, abundant citrus, Meyer lemon and lime zest combine with nectarine to deliver a clean and bright mouthful of wine. This wine is meant to be drunk cold and will carry everything from fries and aioli to jerk shrimp with plantains.
Hi,
So sorry that the crab cake recipe wasn’t cooperating! I’ll work on getting that fixed on the website, but in the meantime, I’ll send you a copy via email.
Thank you for letting us know.
Cheers!
