The inaugural vintage of B Cellars Beckstoffer Carneros Lake Vineyard Chardonnay

B Cellars is proud of our 20-year history of working with Beckstoffer Vineyards to produce single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from each of the six Beckstoffer Heritage vineyard sites. These vineyards are some of the most famous and in demand in the viticultural world. However, Beckstoffer Vineyards owns and farms over a thousand additional acres and grows several other grape varietals.

As a vineyard company, Beckstoffer focuses solely on growing grapes, not on making wines.  They sell their grapes to wineries who, like us, are committed to working with the best fruit possible.  This means that Beckstoffer Vineyards uses their extensive grape-growing knowledge and experience to determine what will grow best on each site.  They consider the terroir of the site, the soil profile, and the local mesa-climate to select, plant, and train the vines specifically for each site. In Carneros, with its cooler climate tempered by cooler air and fogs rolling in off of the San Pablo Bay and heavier, clay-based soils, Beckstoffer has selected Merlot and Chardonnay to plant in their contiguous Las Amigas and Carneros Lake Vineyards. The consistent coastal climate provides for a lengthy hand-time for Chardonnay, resulting in fully ripened and rich flavors balanced with bright and bracing acidity.

We offer this new single-vineyard Chardonnay as a continued testament to the Becksttofer family’s high standards of excellence in viticulture and their dedicated preservation of vineyard sites in the Napa Valley.

2022 Beckstoffer Carneros Lake Vineyard Chardonnay

The nose is expansive- butterscotch and stone fruit paired with white flowers and dried rose petals. The palate is elegant. Baked pineapple and lemon zest give way to a subtle oak presence that adds hints of brioche and vanilla. An acidic lift adds a light and delicate mouthfeel, which finishes with a rich and lengthy finish.
