20th Vintage of Blend 23

We have been blending and bottling a Blend 23 for twenty consecutive vintages, and it remains an absolute fan favorite two decades later.  If you’ve had a bottle lately, then you understand why.  This wine showcases the beauty and daily versatility of blended wines.  The crisp, tart acidity and the “pop” of Sauvignon Blanc, blended with the creamy mouthfeel and mineral finish of Chardonnay—and the smallest addition of Viognier, which ties it all together with a nose-full of floral aromas and a syrupy viscosity.  The result is a wine that drinks well on any day of the week, vintage in and vintage out.

In 2023, we harvested Sauvignon Blanc from 4 different vineyards and Chardonnay from another 4 different vineyards, and Viognier from 2 different vineyards.  And for each of these varietals, we picked from both Napa and Sonoma.  The Sauvignon Blancs were aged in neutral French oak barrels, stainless steel, and concrete, while the Viogniers and Chardonnays were fermented and aged in both new and neutral French oak barrels as well as in concrete.  From this incredible array of flavors, textures, and aromas, we crafted our Blend 23, looking for balance, explosive energy, mouth-coating flavor, and a long and lively finish.

Lavish aromatics of lemongrass, grapefruit, and apricots evolve into wet stone, white peach, and orange blossom. The palate is fresh and crisp, with flavors of key lime and tangerine leading seamlessly to a finish marked by its savory minerality.

The Perfect Summer Pairing

Heirloom Tomato and Peach Salad

by Chef Derick Kuntz

Blend 23’s combination of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Viognier lends itself to being a versatile food pairing wine. The pickled onions, tart tomatoes, and spicy radishes connect with the Sauvignon Blanc; the creamy burrata speaks to the Chardonnay, and the peach echoes the aromatics in the Viognier.
