Wine is our favorite love story.
For some, the decision of what wine to have with a special meal only arises a few times per year. At B Cellars, it’s something that we think about every day, and not just because it’s our job to ponder such things. Wine is just as much a part of daily life as eating so it is only natural that the two go together. We aim to help others realize that wine isn’t only for special occasions, but for any night and any meal.
That said, special occasions are a perfect excuse to take your food and wine skills up a notch. With many romantic Valentine’s Day dinners happening at home this year, we’ve selected three wines that are sure to make your celebration memorable. B Cellars Chef de Cuisine Derek Kuntz has prepared three recipes to match each wine, allowing you to focus on your loved ones instead of finding the perfect pairing.
Order wines by Sunday, February 7 to receive them in time for Valentine’s Day.
Crafted from grapes grown in the cooler, southern end of the Napa Valley, this wine celebrates the elegance of Merlot. Deep, dark fruit flavors rounded by supple tannins and a lengthy finish of dark chocolate and baked cherry. A wine balanced by power and grace.
Pair WithChicken Liver Mousse with Rosemary French Toast & Huckleberry Gastrique
Chef Derick Kuntz created this recipe specifically for B Cellars Merlot. The richness of the mousse helps to soften the tannins, while the huckleberries support and accentuate the beautiful fruit characteristics in the wine.
2018 Blend 25
This rich union of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah shows aromas of bramble berry, black currants lead while subtle expressions of cigar box, espresso roast, and leather emerge on the finish. There is great density and balance on the palate, with a layered, lingering, and lengthy finish of velvety tannins.
Pair WithBraised Lamb Shank
The delicate flavors of the lamb will amplify the structure of the wine and the herbs and spices will coax out the nuanced flavors in this Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah blend.
2018 St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon
Exquisite aromatics lead into a rich and silky palate, laden with flavors of blackberry compote, black cherry, with dark cocoa powder and exotic spice. This Cabernet Sauvignon showcases well-polished tannins and a velvety mid-palate with a long mouth-watering finish.
Pair WithNY Steak Dinner
A classic Cabernet Sauvignon pairing. The flavors in Chef’s proprietary marinade draw out the exotic complexities and the abundant acidity primes the palate for the next bite of this indulgent meal.
Spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying Valentine’s Day with the one you love. B Cellars Chef de Cuisine Derick Kuntz is preparing a phenomenal, multi-course pairing menu to go – and yes, it includes chocolate!
