In Oakville

If you visited the winery in January, you may have noticed something was a little different as you turned off Oakville Cross Road. It may have been a surprising new sight as an empty vineyard greeted you. Replanting a vineyard is a thoughtful, time-intensive process. Over the coming months, we’ll plan new row orientations, select varietals, and source new rootstock. As a result, it will be about a year before new vines are planted.

In the meantime, the land won’t sit idle. We’ve seeded a mix of wildflowers that will bloom at different times throughout the year, adding beauty, supporting biodiversity, and giving us all something new to enjoy while we prepare for the vineyard’s next chapter. It may take some getting used to, but we think it’ll be a pretty lovely intermission.

Stay tuned, this is just the beginning.

In the Vineyards

At B Cellars, our journey with wine begins long before the grapes reach our cellar. The diversity of our wines starts with the carefully selected vineyard sources that produce outstanding fruit.

Our multi-vineyard approach to winemaking is not just a philosophy; it’s the essence of our story. Each vineyard we partner with has its own unique characteristics shaped by elevation, slope, soil, and climate. These diverse sites across Napa Valley and Sonoma County allow us to craft wines with depth, nuance, and an authentic sense of origin.

We often talk about American Viticultural Areas (AVAs), hillsides, and elevations, and how close (or far) a vineyard is from our home at B Cellars. But unless you know the region well, it can be hard to picture how all of these places fit together.

That’s why we are excited to introduce our new interactive 3D vineyard map.

This immersive map brings to life 29 of the prominent vineyards we work with across Napa and Sonoma. With this tool, you can explore our vineyard sources like never before:

  • Click on the vineyard names in the sidebar to travel directly to each site
  • Zoom in to see individual locations up close
  • Adjust the pitch to experience how elevation and terrain shape each vineyard
  • Discover how geography influences the wines you love

Seeing these vineyards in three dimensions reveals what a flat map simply can’t—the dramatic hillsides, the valleys, and the subtle variations that make each site unique.

This is Phase One of our vineyard map, and we’re just getting started. In future updates, we will add more details, such as varietals, acreage, and photography, to further enrich the story behind each location.

For now, we invite you to explore. Visit familiar vineyards, discover new favorites, and experience the landscapes that help define B Cellars wines, one vineyard at a time.

Pre-Release This Month

2024 Stagecoach Vineyard Sangiovese

Of the 600 acres planted to 16 different wine grape varietals, a mere 2.49 acres are planted to the noble Sangiovese. The soils are rocky, red, and volcanic in nature, and the vines drill deep into the hillside, nutrient-depleted soils, producing great concentration, color, and structure. Higher-elevation fruit yields darker cherry and wild berry notes, a firmer structure, and impressive concentration, while the natural acidity keeps the wine light, energetic, and food-friendly. The result is a Sangiovese that’s bigger, bolder, and more expressive, without losing its sense of place or precision.
